Recently I've had several letters from the United States of America - eBay sales, to tell the truth - arrive with damage to the stamps that were used as postage - but not to the stamps enclosed, thank heavens!
Why is that? Are the dimension restrictions tougher over there? Are the letters restricted to a stricter thickness, obliged to forcefully squeeze themselves through a narrow and uncompromising slot? Here you can witness some of the evidence.
In the top photo it looks as if some postie has gone to town with his marker pen. I didn't know that felt could do such damage.
It is not new, to receive envelope with torn stamp on it. Mostly, it happen when shipment is in "floppy" envelop, this kind will go to machine for cancellation, and in process, stamp will be torn - it made more problem for cancel machine operator, because he will need to clear machine and restart it again - and this way, few time in working day!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I have also bad experience, where sender use almost used stamp for postage - sometimes sender "overlap" stamp with stamp, to "hide" small cancel on corner of stamp - it is really funny to see that - but, it will made saving for postage!
best regards to all
